The Merchants National Bank Merchants National Bank is listed on the National Register of Historic Places On January 3, 1921, Merchants National Bank opened the doors to a new marble bank building at 1015 Seventh Street in downtown Sacramento. Customers were greeted by name. The bank's founders worked at oak desks next to the front door. A great deal has changed since 1921. But Merchants continues to uphold the standards of service, stability and value that have made our bank successful. Sacramento grew and prospered, and so did Merchants. The bank became a valuable business partner with Sacramento's oldest and finest businesses. Merchants successfully weathered the Great Depression of the 1930s — turning a profit every one of those years — to become known as one of the safest banks in California. |
